Despite his legendary status among the Red Dragons’ faithful, Mullin’s time at the Racecourse Ground appears to be drawing to a close, at least for now. According to the Mullin is on the verge of leaving the Welsh club, with negotiations underway for a loan switch to League One side Wigan Athletic.

Since arriving at Wrexham in 2021, Mullin has been nothing short of talismanic. His remarkable goal tally of 110 strikes helped the club secure back-to-back promotions and sparked a rise from the National League to the brink of the Championship. The 30-year-old forward’s commitment on the pitch and his eye for goal made him a fan favourite and earned him three consecutive Player of the Year awards.

DID YOU KNOW?

Mullin’s role in the squad began to diminish in the second half of last season. Following a reported falling out with Parkinson in January, he found himself on the fringes of the team. New arrivals in the forward department, including Sam Smith, Jay Rodriguez, and, most recently, Ryan Hardie from Plymouth Argyle, have only served to intensify the competition for a starting berth. While Mullin has downplayed reports of a rift with the manager, there is growing consensus that the forward’s future lies away from North Wales, at least temporarily.

With Wrexham now preparing for life in the Championship, the club seems to be shifting its focus toward assembling a squad equipped for the next level. But a successful loan spell at Wigan could yet reshape Mullin’s narrative at the club he helped elevate.
